Breaches of Playing Regulation 8 Clothing

The QSDCA Management Committee has been made aware of numerous recent breaches of player clothing rules.

The Management Committee wants Subbies cricket to look like real cricket should and not be played by people wearing an informal jumble of uniforms and other clothing.

Teams are reminded that Playing Regulation 8 requires all players to wear proper cricket clothing while playing in QSDCA games. Teams and players are further reminded that penalties will apply if the regulation is breached.

Please take some time to read and understand Playing Regulation 8. (See LINK  )

Some particular requirements are:

  • Players must wear whites or approved Team uniforms or approved Team shirts.

  • Players must wear proper cricket shoes.

  • All Bowlers must wear full metal spikes

    • Any player that does not have full metal spikes (both heel and toe) will not be allowed to bowl.

    • Non-cricket spikes (eg. football, golf, athletics) are not allowed. (See pictures in the Playing Regulations Diagrams Appendix. (p18-19 https://tinyurl.com/5a3nwndu )

  • Recognised cricket hats/caps/ helmets must be either white or recognised club colours.

  • Team uniforms and team shirts must be approved by the Management Committee before use. (Send an image of the shirt to secretary@qsdca.com.au to request approval anytime.)

  • Approved Team uniforms and team shirts are displayed here. https://qsdca.com.au/team-uniform-gallery/

  • If a fill in or a new player does not have the Team uniform or team shirt the only permitted alternative is whites.

Umpires have been instructed to report players who wear:

  • tracksuit pants,

  • shorts (unless player is under 17yo),

  • non-white or non-cricket shirts,

  • non-white batting pads or batting gloves in red ball matches

  • team uniforms or shirts for other teams or clubs,

  • bowlers who bowl without metal spikes (rubber is not metal), and

  • anything else that is not cricket gear.

  • Player umpires must wear shirts and footwear.

Any questions on the above please email secretary@qsdca.com.au

What is new is this.

From Saturday 6-Dec-2025 onwards penalties will be applied for teams who are reported repeatedly failing to follow the Clothing Playing Regulations. Two times is repeated.

Penalties will include loss of match points, fines or forfeiture of match.

Please don’t let this happen to your teams.
